14 Victims of Human Trafficking Successfully Returned from Malaysia

TRANSINDONESIA.CO – A total of 14 Indonesian citizen victims of human trafficking successfully repatriated to Indonesia after being used as prostitutes in Malaysia, with a mode of deception employed as domestic servants.

“The letter from the Embassy in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia 16 citizens informed about the existence of a victim who was sent by an individual agency through improper. Sixteenth victim of it, as many as 14 people have been taken to Indonesia, while two others are still undergoing examination in Malaysia,” said Chief Unit III Sub Human Trafficking Crime Directorate General Superintendent Arie Darmanto in Jakarta, Tuesday (26/08/2014).

According to Arie, sixteenth all-female victim under the age it was secured in the special protection of women in Kuala Lumpur and the protection of women in Rambau, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia.

“Some of them were named Ana, Sri, and Cera in Kuala Lumpur are forced into prostitution (commercial sex workers),” he said.

He said that after coordination with the Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, police conduct an investigation against 14 witnesses who had returned to Indonesia.

“Investigators have taken the statements of the witnesses as many as 14 people with an average age of approximately 15 to 17 years,” he said.

In addition, police investigators also requested information from 10 witnesses from the family of the victim and other witnesses related to the departure of the victims.

Based on information from witnesses and victims, obtained chronology that the victims were recruited by a perpetrator named Dona, and went to Malaysia on an individual basis by Farida aka Ina Zaharina.

The victims were promised to be employed as domestic servants or as a waiter in a restaurant.

“However, in reality they are used as a stripper, no serving man masher, and a companion in a pub or karaoke in Malaysia and Singapore,” said Arie.

According to him, some of the victims went to Malaysia with not carrying any documents, such as ID card, certificate, family card, and a letter of parental consent.

The modus operandi of the perpetrators run to snare victims is to use a migrant worker vacancy advertisements in several local tabloids and “broadcast” on Facebook.

“So, these victims dispatched with false documents. Passport was genuine but fake data. They are dispatched through Batam, Surabaya, or Bandung by plane,” said Arie.

Currently, a suspect named Aden who plays as a maker of forged documents being held at the Jakarta Police related to other cases.

Two other suspects are Jeneli that role helps Aden, and Madani, aka Dona who served as a recruiter and an introduction to Malaysia.

While the suspect Farida aka Ina Zaharina have fled abroad.

“The investigators have sent a letter to the police and have made ​​Hubinter ‘red notice’ to immediately arrest the suspect and immediately handed over to investigators in order to complete the investigation,” said Arie.(ant/sis)
